Calum Von Moger: Australia’s Bodybuilding Sensation and ‘Arnold 2.0’

Australia’s very own bodybuilding prodigy, Calum Von Moger, has once again taken the world by storm with his incredible achievements. Born in Victoria on 19th July 1990 and raised on a farm in Geelong, Calum’s bodybuilding journey has been nothing short of meteoric. Today, we dive into the life and accolades of this fitness sensation, who has been affectionately dubbed ‘Arnold 2.0’ by his ardent fans.

Calum’s initiation into bodybuilding began at a young age alongside his older brother. Their enthusiasm for the sport led them to sneak into a local gym during after hours. This early dedication bore fruit when Calum won the amateur Mr Universe title in his first competitive year in NABBA, after which he decided to dedicate his life to bodybuilding.

Throughout his illustrious career, Calum has secured the Mr. Universe title four times, a testament to his unparalleled discipline, commitment, and sheer talent.

In 2014, Calum relocated to Los Angeles, where his profile grew exponentially. He started working at GNC and entered a romantic relationship with model and fitness influencer Karina Elle. His uncanny resemblance to the bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger earned him the nickname “Arnold 2.0”. His partnership with Muscular Development Magazine and a subsequent sponsorship with supplement giant Cellucor further boosted his fame.

The management contract he signed with Edwin Mejia Jr. and Generation Iron brought him into the spotlight, with features in ‘Generation Iron 2’, available on Netflix, and the biography ‘Calum von Moger: Unbroken‘. His versatile talent was further recognized when he was booked by Generation Iron for the 2019 Pre-Fall Gucci Campaign and landed a role portraying a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in the feature film ‘Bigger’.

Outside of bodybuilding, Calum is a passionate animal lover, having cared for a range of pets, from a goldfish named Coleslaw to a dog named Rex.

However, his journey wasn’t without challenges. In a span of just six months in 2017 and 2018, Calum suffered severe injuries. A torn bicep and a subsequent quad tear while rock climbing demanded intensive medical attention, including surgery for blood clots.

Personal challenges also surfaced. Calum has a son named Kyros, born in 2020, with Nicola Segura. The couple underwent a legal tussle for their child’s custody, which they eventually settled amicably.

Calum’s resilience shone through when he returned to competition in 2020 and secured his IFBB Pro card by winning the NPC Universe in Classic Physique.

Despite the closure of his supplement company Stauch and a short-lived gym venture in Australia in 2021, Calum continues to inspire millions around the world.
