Gym-goers have been desperate to get their hands on a can of Chris Williamson and James Smith’s Neutonic since its launch in 2023.
Despite the ‘world-first’ productivity drink earning rave reviews across the pond in the UK, it has yet to land on Australia’s golden shores.
Fans have been left scratching their heads over the delay, especially given that co-founder Smith has called Sydney home since 2016.
Well, the man himself has finally shed some light on the situation during a recent Instagram Q&A—and it’s not the news people were hoping for.
Is Neutonic Coming To Australia?
Asked why Neutonic isn’t available in Australia, he explained: “Australia has this thing called the TGA. Now, most drink brands reformulate their drinks for Australian regulations (that are stupid and outdated).
“We refuse to take out the very thing that makes the drink what it is, leaving us in a pickle. We’re working on ways around it.”
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is the Australian Government body responsible for evaluating, assessing, and monitoring products classified as therapeutic goods.

Alongside 120mg of caffeine and the recommended daily intake of eight B vitamins, Neutonic contains a blend of nootropics—which is likely the sticking point with the TGA.

Nootropics, sometimes called ‘smart drugs,’ are substances that can enhance cognitive function and brain performance, improving memory, focus, and reducing stress.
Each can of Neutonic delivers an optimal dose of Cognizin, Rhodiola Rosea, L-Theanine, and Panax Ginseng, all while containing zero sugar and zero calories.
Although the drink has safely hit the UK market, Australia’s strict regulations mean fans will have to wait a little longer yet.
