HYROX Sydney: When, Where, and How to Prepare
The ultimate fitness race is returning to the sun-drenched shores of Sydney for the third year running – and it’s bigger than ever before.
In an Australian first, HYROX Sydney will span three full days. The extended schedule is a clear sign of the country’s growing appetite for all things HYROX.
And it’s not just Australia caught up in the craze. HYROX hysteria is sweeping the globe, with 2025 set to mark the race format’s debut in new territories – including Abu Dhabi.
Earlier this year, the HYROX roadshow touched down in Brisbane, and with dates locked in for Perth and Melbourne, Sydney is just one stop on a jam-packed Australian calendar.
Whether you’re chasing the Pro division podium, entering for the first time, or just HYROX-curious, Sydney promises another weekend packed with high vibes, heavy legs, and plenty of DOMS.
Here’s everything you need to know.
What Is the HYROX Race?
If your feed isn’t already full of shirtless people charging around warehouse-style tracks, then it won’t be long before the algorithm catches up with you.
But what exactly is HYROX? Put simply, it’s an 8km race designed to test speed, strength, and endurance. Competitors tackle eight functional workout stations, each separated by a 1km run.
The workout stations feature tests like a 1,000m SkiErg, 200m Farmers Carry, and 100m Sandbag Lunges. It sounds like a lot (and it is), but you can phone a friend to help lighten the load.
While solo races are available, there’s also the option of same-sex or mixed doubles, and even four-person relays.
Founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2018, HYROX has become one of the world’s hottest fitness trends in less than a decade.

Now, brands are lining up to partner with the high-energy race format. Collaborations with Puma, Built for Athletes, and MyProtein cover everything from shoes to backpacks and supplements. Even F45 has joined the party by offering HYROX-specific classes here in Australia.
The global race calendar has exploded – and right at the heart of that growth is HYROX Sydney.
When Is HYROX Sydney?
HYROX Sydney takes place at the Sydney Showground from Friday 4 July to Sunday 6 July – the same venue that’s hosted the event since it first landed in New South Wales in 2023.
A provisional race schedule is already live. The HYROX Men’s and Women’s Pro categories will race on Saturday, with the women kicking things off in the afternoon before the men take to the course in the evening.
The full schedule is available via the HYROX Sydney website.
